Man, do I sound like a complaining old lady: "Oh, my eyes. Oh, my aching back."
And after you HAVE the baby, you will need that stool to sit on in the shower, all the handrails in the shower and next to the toilet, and probably someone to help you walk to and fro! Then you'll FEEL like an old lady and never scoff at those "aids" again! :-)

I'm doing good, Robin. I wish I'd feel that many "bumps" in a row. Its just here and there. Nothing consistant and not every day yet, that I notice, anyway. I'm 17 weeks, now. I guess I'm just remembering a few months down they way yet!

07:22pm May 3, 1999 EDT
Robin, I get the bumps usually when I'm resting. I think most people do partly because babies are more active at night and also because then you're not concentrating on anything much else.
I declined the AFP test. What with the false positives I hear about, I don't really need the extra stress, plus the extra tests (and stress from those) that they'd want to do IF they found anything even sort of wrong. I did the same last pregnancy and Nathan is 100% perfect! :-)

Put a picture on THIS board? You mean in that little square? Or do you mean put it on a website?
I don't get any routine ultrasounds. Phooey! They couldn't tell the sex at 14 1/2 weeks. Now, at 17 weeks, they could-- IF I had an ultrasound. How many weeks are you, Elizabeth? I saw my son is a boy at 17 1/2 weeks by ultrasound.

Robin, you're having a c-section because you had one last time and can't go VBAC, or...? I'm confused. It sounds like you want it to avoid labor? They were almost going to do a c-section last time but I was determined to work around the problem I had and I did. I did NOT want to be cut open. No thanks-- don't need any more scar tissue and definately don't want extra to recover from. Might as well have all my ouches (except for muscles that worked hard all over my body!) "down there" instead of "down there" and "up here, too", KWIM? Just my experience.... About the little picture... My husband did that for me! I'll go see what I can dig up...

Robin, sounds like us! My husband is looking into being a local pastor. He's not finished with ordainment yet, nor through school, but you can still preach at a church somehow. He's looking into his "residency" of sorts-- or whatever the name is. LOL I just can't wait till school is DONE and we can go back home to Michigan! School is done for the year basically now, but I mean for good. He'll be done with 2 years in December and its a 3-year program. However, Jonathan thinks he may have to go another semester so that makes us here till May of 2001. *Sigh* Sounds so far off! Nathan will be 3 1/2 and the new baby will be 1 1/2!!! A good thing is, though, that my mom is talking about her and her fiance and me and Jonathan and the two kids and my sister and her husband going to Disney World for two weeks in March of 2001! What an ending to graduate school, huh?? :-) Plus my mom's a manager at The Disney Store so she'll get us the room-- a Tree house at WDW if you know what that is. I think you can see one on their website at www.disneyworld.com. Anyway, we won't even have to pay to get into the parks!!

Here's the lo-down on my appointment today...
I'm at 18 weeks and have gained a total of 7 pounds this pregnancy so far. Baby's heartbeat is good and my blood pressure is fine and so is my "urinalysis". LOL Not very exciting news I guess, but no news is good news!

Hi all! I hope you all had a SUPER Mother's Day! We went to church and then had a picnic at the beach. Saw two families of geese! My son and I ran on the beach with bare feet. Stuck a toe in, too! It was 75 and sunny today.
Sheri, you and your hubby will LOVE Disney World! If you'd like hints and tips and experience just ask! I've done both just me and my husband trips -- had our honeymoon there, too!-- and a trip with lots of family members and my son, etc. Here's their offical site. And here is a bulletin board where people know tons and can answer any questions you may have. My advice is to plan early because ticket prices go up. If you get tickets now they don't "start" until the day you actual walk through the park gate. Hotels are a different matter, but like I said, just ask!

Beth, there are maternity consignment shops. I only bought one pair of maternity jeans at a maternity store because I was despirate for some after my regular jeans were literally cuting off some circulation! (My other maternity pants were all large size and won't fit till the 3rd trimester.) I don't have any frilly bows on my stuff. I have a plain blue and white t-shirt that's maternity... And, of course, dresses always work (but look better the farther along you are!). I got some shorts and one shirt last time I was pregnant at Target. Good deals there, I think, and nothing frilly that I saw. Most of my stuff, though, is hand-me-down from a couple friends. As for nursing bras, I got mine at Sears. Its a Playtex. No underwire, but very comfy. There are clips in the top of each cup that allows the front of the cup to open downward.

Maritza,
Hey-- I wear Pooh! LOL I got a maternity bikini at a consignment shop for $10. That's rediculous for clothes-- that catalog! I say, borrow from friends and relatives, and go to consignment shops!
Everyone,
Is anyone else feeling like there is a TON of things to do? I'm researching cloth diapers; signing up for childbirth, breastfeeding, and CPR classes; looking into a midwife and/or homebirth; making lists of what baby stuff I have and what I need....! Oh yeah, and we're going to move at the end of August so I have to start thinking about packing, throwing out, finding a new apartment, etc.!

11:47pm May 10, 1999 EDT
Mary, You can't beat yourself up for past decisions you don't think were best now. We ALL do that. KWIM? I'm glad you've got this big hurdle under your belts-- so to speak!! (hehe...)(If only I could get the diapers down as well; I'm researching cloth diapers for this time around.) If you want info on "mixed" kids-- some circ'd some not-- and intact care, come over to the Non-Circ Support board. There are MANY supportive and knowlegable moms there. I'm not in Florida, sorry to say! Wish I were-- I'd got to Disney World at least once a week. LOL I guess it does pay to know how to sew; I really hope my aunt will make me diapers!! We'll see... I can't sew for anything. Okay, so I DID make my husband a pair of flannel shorts with a drawstring and pockets 4 years ago. But that was with TONS of help from my aunt!

You know that old "whew! It was only a dream!" saying? Well, that's exactly what I thought when I woke up this morning... I drempt I was seeing my old OB for some reason but in a big building. You see, the baby kept sliding out. At one point, it was all the way out except for the legs. I kept shoving it back up. No one really was helping me, and the last I saw of a medical person was this woman using a reusable ovulation predictor on herself which told her that she might be pregnant but this (?) was also likely the case with her hormones. The last thing in the dream was me sitting on this toilet and water almost overflowing it and I was told to stay there-- same problem with the baby. Another part of the dream was being right outside this door to a big house and then this evil leader man starts to shoot poison gas at me and I start running across the field but he's got all sorts of people working for him and they catch up with me. Then this guy goes to try to get a job at a nearby bank.

02:17pm May 14, 1999 EDT
I had normal dreams last night. So normal, I don't even remember what they are! I think I've decided what kind of diapers to get. Yea!

06:36pm May 14, 1999 EDT
Beth, yes, I had one with Nathan. They measure the leg and head, etc. Get a good detailed look at the brain and spine, etc. Find out if you can bring a video for "the fun part"-- that is, after they're done measure and clicking a million still shots for "records". LOL

09:24pm May 18, 1999 EDT
I'm around. Just not much to say. Been posting on the Depression board; that's where I've been saying everything!

10:38pm May 18, 1999 EDT
Pregnancy is only making the hormones run more wild than they already would. The short of it is that I hate moving and we have no money and I don't like where we're living so want to move but... and then we are going back to MI to be with family for the summer, but have to scrape together to get there. I'm already seeing someone for councelling. I was told I have anxiety and depression back on New Year's Day and I know that when I was pg with Nathan I got worse. I hope this person thursday can prescribe some pg-safe stress-relievers. Cuz that's about all you can do when you get into a "state". Anyway, that's the "short" version. LOL

10:39pm May 18, 1999 EDT
Baby's been active, here, too. Mostly at night, per usual. Last night I tried to fall asleep 1/2 on my stomach and got kicked all over the place. I guess that means "You're squishing me!" LOL

12:44am May 19, 1999 EDT
Sheri, I know the uncertainty of medical tests and "might-be's" and waiting around for results. Its emotionally draining! (Fortunately, most things turn out to be false alarms for me, which means it was 'unnecessary' stress!) It sounds like you did what you needed to, though-- nothing you didn't want to and got the amnio done right away so that eventhough 2 weeks is long to wait, at least the 2 weeks started immediately. I had an x-ray of my uterus and fallopian tubes 3 years ago when I was seeing a reproductive doctor. I was fully expecting to hear that my tubes were clear, etc. But I got the news right then that one was completely blocked and unfixable at all and the other was clear but could be pulled out of alignment with the ovary. My aunt found out through amnio that one of her twins has a very rare genetic disorder where some of the cells are XY and some are XX. They tried to talk her into aborting and telling her the child wouldn't make it, would have lots of problems, etc. She ignored them and continued the pregnancy and now my little cousin is a very cute, 6-year-old boy. It remains to be seen if any latent genes get "turned on" at puberty, but... I think they really try to give you the worst-case scenario so that anything else won't seem as bad.
As for me and how I'm doing. I was thinking tonight and although I don't like the neighborhood that much, the stress of having to move and find a place is worse. Scraping for the $, etc. So I told dh that he would have to promise me we'd fix up the place with a square of carpeting in the livingroom (we have all wood floors, but they are not too nice ones) and get rid of some more STUFF. We are forever getting rid of STUFF and as soon as we do, more of it arrives. (And new babies certainly don't help with that!) He's really been doing well on keeping up with the bills, considering, and this summer will be the chance to catch up and maybe get a used portable dishwasher. Something's got to work out. Moving is too much physical stress on us all and too much $ and time. So the neighbors before they moved out told us horror stories about who used to live in our place. But the guy who just moved in upstairs is well-dressed, college type and seems very nice. And I haven't heard any loud music from downstairs in AGES. (He got the wrath of my pregnant hormones when I was newly pregnant one night for having the music too loud really late! And I tell you he looked SCARED.) Plus, all this will get us home sooner than later-- to MI that is. In other news, I've been feeling lots of "baby bumps" lately! I'm just at 19 1/2 weeks and I swear I saw my middle move! (Nothing like it will be in 2 months, but still.)

02:55pm May 22, 1999 EDT
Hi all. Talk about withdrawal!! I guess others are still trying to FIND their boards again. LOL We're just sorting, cleaning and packing. DH is going into work 3 hours early, so that's more money. We've picked a leaving date of 6/6. Got lists of what to pack/bring, etc. Its nap time, though so I'm just zooming through to say hi and I hope the boards get hopping again since they were gone for days!

10:34am May 23, 1999 EDT
{{{{{Elizabeth}}}}} I know exactly how you feel! We decided NOT to move, and I pray nothing like this happens to our place. Are there lots of apartments available where you live? Have you lived there long so you know your options? At least its HIS mortgage not yours. LOL Like you said, I'd get out ASAP-- especially if he hasn't been paying his mortgage; just what is he DOING with your rent money?
I had a dream last night that I had the baby. It was a girl. All the dreams I've had about the baby have had it a girl. Only one had boy/girl twins. (And I know I'm not having twins.)

01:00pm May 23, 1999 EDT
{{{Mary}}} Nobody's having a good day! I had a terrible stomach bug about 6 weeks ago. Couldn't keep anything down; had a different bug a week later and kept food down but had a horrendous stomach ache. I mean "give me an epidural" kinda thing! (It was my intestines, though.) Both times, I was extremely dehydrated and went into the ER. Maybe you should see about that. Pregnant people can get dehydrated really fast. About the shower, that happens to me if I don't have it well ventilated/window open, etc.

09:43pm May 23, 1999 EDT
I probably dehydrate faster than most with my instestinal history, Mary, but I just thought I'd pass that info along. All it took was that flu 6 weeks ago and I needed 3 bags of fluids at the ER! I'd rather go in and have that than be that dehydrated.

09:42am May 24, 1999 EDT
My middle is definately getting bigger. Only, I went to the grocery store yesterday in big regular clothes and you know that only makes one look fat. LOL

11:08am May 24, 1999 EDT
No amnio, Beth, but very cool on your ultrasound! Now you can shop for clothes, etc. Finalize the name... Decide about circumcision. LOL All that boy stuff!

10:19am May 31, 1999 EDT
Oh my god it is! Only "check messages" isn't working.
Its been a WEEK since we last posted here. This board broken-ness is extrememly annoying. I wouldn't be surprised it people found other forums to post on. I love MOL boards but when you can't post there isn't much to love.
I'm still around. Feeling the baby move lots more these days and VERY hungry! You rememeber "The VERY Hungry Caterpillar"? Well, that's me. LOL
We leave Saturday morning (the 5th) for our trip. Not much going on here but Nathan's been being really cute lately. We watched a video last night from when Nathan was 4 months and we went on a big family vacation to Disney World. He was so chubby and wobbly!
