Yea! The board is up! So nice to have the board. I was just about to post my due date but its up there already. LOL
08:50am Feb 6, 1999 EDT
So how is everyone feeling? I'm feeling "congested", THIRSTY, a bit crampy at times, sometimes tired, and sometimes sick.
08:37am Feb 7, 1999 EDT
I've had a bit of morning sickness, yes! And I'm not even 5 weeks yet! Eek. And speaking of that, I was just about to get my SECOND breakfast. LOL (Ate earlier when I woke up.) Everything comes and goes really. I've notice that when I eat, its always an adventure! The food not only tastes REALLY good (or REALLY nasty), but individual flavors stick out that I never would've noticed before! I don't know that this will last the whole pregnancy or if it does, I think last time I got used to "dog nose", etc. I don't have my vitamins yet. :-( Dh says we should wait till our insurance covers them. LOL I thought there was a store brand you could get but I haven't seen them.
07:16pm Feb 8, 1999 EDT
I didn't start vitamins with Nathan until I was 5 weeks. I'm 5 weeks today and I just got my precription filled. They weren't THAT expensive. I got 100 for $17. So in 3 months I'll only pay $2 for 100. LOL

Update on me...
I spent 5 hours yesterday afternoon in the ER. (Most of that waiting around...). For the last 3 days I've been having spotting of and on brownish or pinkish. Then around 3 p.m. yesterday, it was red but not a lot. Great. So, in we went.
They looked at my cervix-- told me its "friable" (sp?). That means what I already knew: it bleeds at the drop of a hat. (Remember December when it was doing that?) So that's the bleeding. He did an ultrasound and saw nothing. No ectopic, no pregnancy anywhere. "You are pregnant," he said. "You have a positive blood test."
So, inconclusive. They are checking my HCG and progesterone levels to see if the go up by at least 60% between yesterday and Saturday. With Nathan, we saw a sack at 5 weeks but no heartbeat. This time I saw nothing at all except a full bladder.
03:18pm Feb 12, 1999 EDT
Now, amongst all this, I'm having terrible nausea and doing the gag/sometimes-throw-up thing-- especially at smells and after I cough, which includes when I take my asthma meds. If I KNEW things were okay, I could take this in stride...
10:01pm Feb 12, 1999 EDT
I got a call tonight from the hospital. They told me my hormone levels were good and "up" but that since they saw no pregnancy in the uterus yesterday they wanted me to come in right away as it could be ectopic.
So, in we went. To make a long story short, I'm 5 weeks and its IN the uterus! The only "bad" thing is that there is no heartbeat. But, that's exactly what happened with Nathan and 5 weeks still is normal for no heartbeat. I go in tomorrow to get my hormone levels checked again to compare to yesterday's. If anyone's interested, I snuck a peek at one of the paper reports on me and my HCG yesterday was 14,400. (Everyone has their own ranges of what's normal, I guess, though.)
12:32am Feb 13, 1999 EDT
Well, if hormone levels and sickness have anything to do with a "good" pregnancy, that's what I've got! I have to really force myself to eat because of the nutrition but I'm not really hungry most of the time lately. Tonight I had a chicken dinner and it was pretty gross-- I normally like them. Then I had a lovely time after taking my asthma meds with a tummy ache and gagging and you can guess how that turned out... Blech! Like I said: if sickness has anything to do with a "good" pregnancy, that's me! I didn't feel sick until I was 8 weeks with Nathan.
09:58am Feb 13, 1999 EDT
It might be round ligaments stretching, Elizabeth. From what I remember with my first, its like sharp pokey pains off and on. Feels like your cervix is being stabbed with a pin, pretty much. My back seems to ache, lately, but I think that's more to do with pregnancy hormones and hauling around a toddler and his diaper bag.
05:54pm Feb 13, 1999 EDT
As far as my update, like I said, everything seems to be in the right place. I had my blood drawn tonight, again, to compare HCG levels to Thursday's. I'll call in the morning to find out, but I'm pretty convinced everything is just hunky dorey! *grin*
01:53pm Feb 14, 1999 EDT
Well, I called for my results. They said they wanted at least a 60% increase between thursday's numbers and Saturday's numbers. Thursday was 14,400 and Saturday's was 30,000-something! :-)
12:24pm Feb 17, 1999 EDT
I'm back from my ultrasound. I got a nice big picture to take home! We saw the baby, a yolk sack, a heartbeat! She measured the baby and it was 2 cm, I think she said. So small. (She must've meant 2 mm. That's about what it should be at 6 weeks a book I have says. I THOUGHT she mispoke!) That was cool I got to see the baby because with my son at this stage, their ultrasound wasn't very powerful and we just saw a black spot with a grey flicker in it. This time I actually saw the baby and its heart beating! They said I'm 6 weeks and 3 days. Just what I said with my ovulation dates! :-Þ So there!
08:35am Feb 19, 1999 EDT
After all that, I'm just as pregnant as I said I was-- definately NOT by my last period-- and a-ok. LOL Of course!
10:23am Feb 20, 1999 EDT
Oh Beth! Don't start on cravings!! LOL I go from feeling sick as a dog to craving to back to sick in a matter of one second, sometimes. LOL
09:23am Feb 21, 1999 EDT
My dreams have turned back to my high school and the house we lived in from when I was 10-20. I know they'll get more wacky as time goes on. Like one I had when I was pregnant with Nathan about taking a shower in a museum. Big, huge room with slate floors-- with paintings on the walls. But a shower head, too, in a wall and I was just standing there taking a shower-- no curtain, or anything. People walking by. LOL I must've been an exhibit to them.
11:06am Feb 21, 1999 EDT
That's funny, Beth. It made me think of an evil "Its a Small World" ride or something.
So how are all the fellow pregnant people here? Let's talk pregnancy! (Although, mostly, all I've got to say is "When does morning sickness end?!?" and "I've got a plumber coming at 3 to install a 2nd toilet in the livingroom." LOL)
12:34pm Feb 21, 1999 EDT
.....But this time around, I've got a toddler following me to the potty, grinning up at me while I'm sitting there, her little hands on my knees......
Me, too, only mine lifts up my shirt and nurses.
01:01pm Feb 21, 1999 EDT
I organized last time, but not this early. After the baby shower, though, I was all ready! I still have stuff packed away 2 hours from here we'll have to get in September some time. It gets even better than this. LOL This is just the beginning. I can't wait till July and August and seeing my baby move my whole middle and FEELING it! I loved being pregnant in the summer with Nathan. I'm due the day before Nathan's 2nd birthday, so this aught to be just about the same, weatherwise!
DH means "dear husband"-- or "dang" or whatever. LOL
Oh yeah, about dreams... Wait till you get the sex-with-the-toy-store-clerk dreams! LOL I hear lots of wo men have dreams-- detailed-- about sex with strange men. Just part of the fun, I guess! (There's always the old stand-by water and puppy dreams, too...)
05:26pm Feb 22, 1999 EDT
Anita,
LoL By the time you read this, you'll know that having a transvaginal ultrasound isn't exactly "getting some". LOL I've had probably 20 in the last 3 years, what with infertility ones to check follicle development and then early ones with Nathan and with this one... Let me tell you: all I ever think is "Ugh! She's ramming that thing into my ovaries/cervix/....doesn't this student KNOW I have a pelvic bone? Is he trying to break it or what?" LOL
10:20am Feb 24, 1999 EDT
I also am scheduled to take a plane trip at 9 week pregnant. (Well, two, cuz I have to fly back.) Each flight is 5 hours! I know that planes can be REALLY dry, and I'll practically have to be hooked up to an IV, for one... And running around on a choir tour isn't exactly not stressful and tiring for a pregnant person, anyway!
01:18pm Feb 26, 1999 EDT
I'm almost 8 weeks now and m/s is getting worse! Dh and Nathan (16 mos) and I spent the night in a hotel last night because of the bad storm here and because it would be a mini vacation. Well, this morning, we went to a restaurant not unlike Denny's. I was happily eating when all of the sudden I felt queezy then WORSE and actually went to the bathroom thinking full well I was going to throw up. Ick. But I didn't. Close call though. (I had visions of ruining the table and all our breakfasts. LOL)
08:55pm Feb 26, 1999 EDT
(((((((Sandy))))))))
I think I'd rather have the M/S than throw up during labor! I did feel queezy in labor, though, but a nurse said how amazed she was that I didn't because most people do, I guess. My mom kept looking at me and asking what I remember her asking when I was very young, "Do you think you're going to throw up?" Then she'd put one of those pans at the ready to catch anything! LOL When I was about 4, the same sort of thing happened at the mall, only she took her green, crocheted, winter hat off to catch it. LOL And I remember not wanting her to do that because why mess up her hat when the mall people could clean the floors? LOL
09:20am Feb 27, 1999 EDT
My middle has been itching. I have no idea why, because I'm not big enough for the skin to be stretching yet and I still have some "pooch" left over from Nathan, along with a lovely ornate decorative pattern of stretch marks... I have a friend who's pregnant, but she's due August 22nd.
11:16am Feb 27, 1999 EDT
Beth, yeah, that would work with the airbrushing. Not for me, though! On top of the stretch marks, I've got a scar from surgery as a newborn preemie. The main part is about a foot long, maybe an inch above my belly button, going horizontally. Above and below that are lots of small lines from where the sutures (?) were put in to sew me up. Then there are a couple of feeding tube scars from the hole... And with all that I've got a 2-piece maternity suit. LOL The catch is that the top part is longer and meets up with the bottom part in the middle somewhere. Not attached, but still covers me. Very neat feeling while swimming because the water gets under the top part, of course.
10:30pm Feb 28, 1999 EDT
Now back to how I feel.... Like JUNK! I've been nibbling on snacks and drinks and this and that all evening waiting for dinner. And now dh has cooked it-- a roasted chicken! OMG, any second I think I'll throw up. And I've got the door closed here and can still smell it. On top of that I have a headache and there is no Tylenol in the house still except the "pm" kind which I can't take!
